One hundred years ago, 26th December 1919, Sr Celine de St. Raphael was born in Dumbarton, Scotland.
After a long and eventful life, on 26th Dec 2019 ,she celebrated her 100th birthday at the Home in Glasgow, surrounded by Sisters, Family and friends.
Early post meant that she received a telegram from the DWP,
and a birthday message from Her Majesty the Queen
Mother Provincial Kathleen was pleased to present her with the Papal blessing which Mother General had requested from Pope Francis.
The chapel was beautifully decorated and Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Conti accompanied by several priests
In his homily Archbishop Conti reminded us that we have three birthdays to celebrate on 26th December:the Birthday of Our Saviour
the heavenly birthday of the deacon St. Stephen and the 100th birthday of Sister Celine
It was lovely to see so many members of the family delighting to be part of the celebration.
After Mass all joined together to enjoy a beautiful buffet lunch prepared by the kitchen staff.
Then Sr. Celine cut the cake and decided that as a “thank you to everyone present she would sing a song “my old highland home”
Thank you Sr.Celine, for the joy you have brought to so many people during your long life.We thank God with you for all you have received and we join in this Scottish Toast:
